BIO

Emma Shutko is a print designer and artist currently living in Los Angeles California.  Originally from Pittsburgh, PA she received her BFA in Fibers from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).  Upon graduating she has worked in Philadelphia and Los Angeles as an inhouse print designer for a variety of companies, from Urban Outfitters to Joie, Pacsun and Lucky Brand.  She is currently working as a freelance designer.

Her personal work reflects the perception of nature and its role in the human experience.  The natural world functions as a vehicle of awe, magic and terror in Western imagination, encapsulating extremes of humanity.  The juxtaposition of the reality of human nature and manifestations of the spiritual are sources of fascination.  The dissection of these layers and the connections between them lie at the core of her work.
